RNA-guided genome protection

What a nice time in Caux, Switzerland🇨🇭! I presented my fresh results on the evolutionary diversification of RNAi and the regulation of endogenous giant viruses at the RNAi-guided genome protection. Like a dream come true, meeting all the small RNA guys I've cited in my work since 2016!

Postdoctoral Research Associates Symposium!

I am serving as one of the PDRA representatives from the SBBS at QMUL, I helped to organize the 5th PDRA Symposium. It was two nice days of postdoc presentations and career discussion. Of course, everything ended up with a pint! Looking forward to the next edition.

New start as MSCA fellow in Alex de Mendoza lab at Queen Mary University of London

Thrilled to share that I just moved to London 🇬🇧 to start this journey! My project will investigate the role of small RNAs in immunity and regulation of giant endogenous viral elements in eukaryotes. Let's go #SMALLGIANT!

Thanks to Corradi Lab!

After three years at the University of Ottawa, I said goodbye to the Corradi Lab. During this period, I investigated transposable elements and genome evolution in arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi, contributing to studies on TE dynamics, genome architecture, and fungal evolution. Most importantly, I leave with lasting collaborations and friendships.

March 2025

Genome Biology and Evolution publication

Our study on transposable element evolution across 24 arbuscular mycorrhizal fungal species was published in Genome Biology and Evolution. We found that effector genes are frequently associated with TE-rich genomic regions, revealing evolutionary parallels between AMF and filamentous plant pathogens.

Future Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow

I was awarded a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship and will join Alex de Mendoza's lab at Queen Mary University of London. The SMALLGIANT project will investigate the evolution of small RNAs associated with endogenous giant viruses in unicellular eukaryotes.

November 2024

Best Presentation Award at the First Brazilian Conference for Evolutionary Biology

I received the award for Best Presentation in the Genes and Genomes section during the First Brazilian Conference for Evolutionary Biology, an event that also marked the foundation of the Brazilian Society for Evolutionary Biology.

July 2024

Presentation at SMBE 2024

I presented my research at the Society for Molecular Biology and Evolution meeting. Although I participated virtually, it was a valuable opportunity to share my work and connect with the evolutionary genomics community.

June 2024

Oral Presentation at the Mycological Society of America Meeting

I presented ongoing work on transposable element evolution in arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi, highlighting how repetitive DNA contributes to genome variability, adaptation, and gene regulation in these important plant symbionts.
